-3000 years BC swimmers were using a primitive over arm stroke with the head carried high and the legs beating down vertically.
– 1700BC Swimming Baths were traced to the Minoan Empire in the Palace of Minos, Crete, and Delhi.
-36 BC The First Crawl Stroke was introduced, and competitions started.
-First organized swim races took place in Lambeth Bathes London 1836.
-1900 The freestyle was accepted as the most effective stroke for speed swimming.
