Welcome Back to Thursday’s History Lesson on Sidestroke!
Sidestroke was developed in 1840. It helps with balance in the water and is currently used a Junior Lifesaving stroke.
Trudgen Stroke which evolved from sidestroke by an English swimmer, John Trudgen. Trudgen stroke is a over head side stroke.
We teach sidestroke to really improve balance and core strength in the water. We have many Junior Lifeguards in the area and this stroke is required.
As you can see in the video Reigan is working on her sidestroke, making sure she glides with each scissor kick.
